Who's the Groom And Who's the Bride On Britain's First Ever Gay Muslim Wedding? Check Out Here!

Same sex marriage has been criticized by different sectors all over the world.Even lawmakers have been debating whether it should be legalized or not.

Its really a complicated issue since same sex marriage faces lots of concerns regarding with religion, gender equality, tradition, moral and cultural issue, etc.

Some people agreed on it, while others prohibited and sanctioned it in their churches, temples, and other religious places of worship, and still others had no one standing on the issue, but each decision was based on some religious and moral standing.

Especially in Muslim community where homosexual and lesbian relationships are forbidden by Islam because of their strict rule about sexual intercourse only taking place between a husband and wife. Some Muslim lawyers have argued that it is a crime which should be punished by death.

However, the first ever gay Muslim wedding took place in Britain. The newly wed couple, Jahed Choudhury, 24 and Sean Rogan 19 are now enjoying their lives together.

The Ceremony:
Jahed and Sean tied the knot in traditional Muslim attire at Walsall registry office.Sean agreed with Jahed to wear traditional Bangladeshi wedding outfits.

Jahed narrated:

'The outfits are traditional Muslim-Bangladeshi outfits. Everyone wears them for a wedding at home.'I told Sean I thought it would be very nice to wear them and he agreed.'Also, they look very pretty.

It was actually a low-key affair and the ceremony was only attended by both family and friends
Jaheds mother, sister, older brother and cousin witnessed the wedding, as did Seans mother, two sisters and older brother.

Jahed stated:
My mum has always been so supportive. Without her I would not be here today. It was just close friends and family who were invited as I did not want a big weddingIt was just perfect the way it was.

Jahed is now looking forward to a happy life with Sean, who he first met while crying on a bench in Darlaston.

He added: 'We're going to have a big party in Darlaston afterwards and go to Spain for a week on holiday.'

How they met:

It was two years ago when Jahed was actually suicidal until he was spotted by Sean crying on a town bench in Darlaston.

Jahed narrated:I was crying on a bench and Sean came over and asked if I was okay. He gave me hope at one of my lowest points and he's stood by me all the way.'
'I stood out like a sore thumb - I never liked football, I preferred watching fashion shows on TV. I remember feeling trapped.'

He said: 'It went all over school, people would spit on me, empty the rubbish bins on me, call me pig and the Muslim people would shout "harum" - which is a very nasty insult in my language.

'I tried killing myself and I then met Sean. The housing association got us a house in a week and we've been living together ever since. I proposed on Sean's birthday last June.

Jahed being a Muslim gay:
Jahed grew up feeling rejected by Muslim community because he was a gay and even sent on a religious pilgrimage to change his sexual orientation. There was also a time when he tried to change his gender orientation by having a girlfriend, changing his social circles, went to a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh and even taking medication as well. But nothing seems helpful to him.

According to Jahed, the situation got worse when he was attacked by fellow Muslim in the street where he lived and a homophobic slur was sprayed on his front door. Then, the mosque hed been attending for the past 15 years no longer allowed him in and also experiences another physical attacked by another Muslim boys. Feeling rejected, Jahed wanted to end his life.

Jahed stated : 'I'd been viciously attacked by Muslim boys, my mosque told me non-Muslims were not allowed in.

He also has post-traumatic stress disorder which means he struggles to face people alone and cant work.

Moving forward together:

Jared Said: I want to say to all people going through the same thing that it's okay - we're going to show the whole world that you can be gay and Muslim.

Both of them are now looking for a happy life together.Jared now has taken a significant step forward for both the Muslim and LGBT communities and Sean considering converting to Islam.

Jared narrated:

'Sean is considering converting to Islam. I asked him if he would on my behalf.
'We would not be able to find a place of worship however. We would not be welcomed by any mosques.
'I have heard about the liberal mosque in Berlin that opened recently where they are a lot less traditional.
'It sounds fantastic. I really want to visit, and wish we could have somewhere like that here.'

It seems like everythings doing pretty well for the newly wed couple.

However, They revealed that they have received number of death threats since the wedding, but they are determined to ignore them since they also filled with support and love from their family and friend.

Jared stated:
'We have had death threats against us and our families. People telling me they are going to kill me and that I should never have been born. They are really vile, horrible comments

'But we are so happy we are able to just brush them off. We've had an awful lot of support too.'
